Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Brian De Palma, George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola

TOO MUCH AWESOME.

I love this. All you need to know about each director can be easily summed up by their dress in this photograph.
Spielberg- No tie to give a clear “Fuck You” to traditional Hollywood conventions. His five o’clock shadow doesn’t give him the seasoned veteran look of some of the others, but alludes to his overall demeanor, which seems to be saying through stern eyes, “Yeah, this dinner is great and all, but I’ve got four hours of erasing ET’s bike wires in post, so can we hurry up with the damn picture already?”
Scorsese- Always laughing, always smiling- his films are only as bleak and gritty as they are because the man loves living and making movies more than Bill O’Reilly loves himself- and he has to get all that aggression out somehow. I think the Scorsese probably has a reserve suit and tie in his closet for the day he takes all his other suits and ties to the laundromat. Has anyone seen him dressed any differently? The man is by far the classiest class-act that ever classed-up a supposedly classy town.
DePalma- Scorsese’s gritty and roughed up evil twin. He probably showed up late for this dinner and didn’t even bother buttoning up his shirt with pockets still holding shooting notes from the scene he was working on earlier that afternoon. Also, he’s clearly had one too many in this picture, and has probably drunkenly spoiled the plot for his next film, wherein the next morning, he will add some controversial twist sure to enrage critics, solely to retain the element of surprise against his filmmaking peers.
Lucas (read in Lucas Voice)- “You know, I was out shopping with Rick McCallum, really just minding my own business, and he noticed this just stunning shirt and tie combination- really sets the future of business casual ahead to dizzying new heights- why waste all that tie space with just ONE tie color when you can throw five hundred on there? I took it home and realized that it fit well with my favorite black jacket…but wait- I could go through that jacket thread by thread and replace the black yarn with brown yarn! NOW It’s finally the jacket I’ve always wanted it to be- and after all, doesn’t it just look GREAT?”
Coppola- “I’m the fucking godfather.”

I stand by my theory that George Lucas is attractive. At least when he was young…
